This year 2021 has given viewers the opportunity to watch engaging and new content on streaming platforms. And through them many names were highlighted, which delighted and sometimes even challenged the psyche of the audience through their performances in all genres.
Based on Adarsh Gaurav’s realistic portrayal of the seductive servant Balram in The White Tiger to the powerful roles of Sahher Bambba and Drashti Dhami in The empire, many actors attracted attention and left an indelible impression on the minds of the audience.
One of the most captivating webseries of this year, Grahan, a moving investigative drama set against the backdrop of the 1984 riots, saw notable performances by Wamiqa Gabbi and Ansumaan Pushkar.
Pushkar, 28, reveals how he knew the series was going to get bigger while it was still in production. “This is the first time I got this kind of overwhelming response and I feel lucky. Even when the show was in production I was told that kuch achaa nikal kar aa raha hai tumhaare liye. But the greatest endorsement for me was when the author that the series is based on told me that I had done a great job and justified the character.
The show also explores the love story of Pushkar and Gabbi, which takes place during the era of pure love. “Grahan gave me a lot of other opportunities to explore now. I thank the whole team of Grahan. It just made my future years better. So I think everything from now on is going to be great, amazing, ”adds Gabbi.
Another unreleased thriller that has become a talking point this year has been Tabbar, a heartbreaking story of a family. Audiences couldn’t help but appreciate the tense performances of actors Paramvir Cheema and Gagan Arora, who ultimately broke with his image of a boy-lover.
Calling 2021 a special year for her career, Arora said: “I never thought I could be where I am right now, it’s a very happy place with a long journey ahead of me. Tab bar is one of those projects that does not come easily. I’m just grateful to the creators for trusting my craft and hard work and seeing what a lot of people couldn’t see before. The response for the show and my character has been overwhelming and immensely reassuring to me. I can only hope that audiences will continue to love these characters as much as I do.
For his co-star Cheema, who played a virtuous cop caught in a strange family dynamic, Tab bar was a gamechanger.
He notes, “Today I can proudly say that hard work, patience and resilience can work wonders … you just have to believe in yourself. Stay tight and keep going. It still feels like a dream. I work really hard to be consistent, in fact putting all the extra effort into giving the best of myself, going the extra miles to show my love for playing in on going projects, preparing my mind body and soul for the future.
For actress Tina Desai, who has been in films, it was only after her performance in web series such as Mumbai Newspapers 11/26 and webfilm Bob biswas this audience noticed his acting chops.
Sharing her thoughts on this, she says: “I’m happy and relieved that both projects were released as they were mostly filmed before the pandemic and so it should ideally have been released in 2020. The response to both projects has been good. , and I’m especially grateful that my work has been appreciated. Mumbai Diaries has even become one of the most popular hit shows of the year, so that’s great news. I haven’t worked in India since. several years, so it’s exciting to come back with projects so well received.
