Beirut, Lebanon:

The ISIS group claimed responsibility on Sunday for a bombing of a minibus in the Afghan capital Kabul, which killed a journalist and injured four others.

The attack occurred on Saturday in the Dasht-e-Barchi suburb of Kabul, an area dominated by members of the predominantly Shiite Hazara community, which has been the target of ISIS violence for years.

ISIS-Khorasan, the local branch of the terrorist group, claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement broadcast on its Telegram channels.

Hamid Seighani, a well-known Afghan journalist who worked for the Ariana News television channel, died in the blast.

ISIS-K boasted of having killed and injured “20 Shiite apostates”, including a journalist, claiming to have planted bombs on buses.

Since the Taliban returned to power on August 15, dozens of bombs have been thrown in eastern Nangarhar province – a hotbed of ISIS activity – but Kabul has largely escaped such violence.

However, on November 2, ISIS operatives attacked the city’s National Military Hospital, killing at least 19 people and injuring more than 50 others.
