Watch: Hair-Raising Video Shows Huge Snake Being Lifted By Crane

Viral video shows huge snake lifted with crane

Video that has gone viral online shows a huge snake being pulled out of its rainforest by a digger. The video has been around the internet for at least two weeks now and has left millions stunned by the size of the snake. Several news articles, in fact, have speculated that it could be the world’s largest snake on record. Since the video surfaced on social media earlier this month, numerous news sites have also falsely reported that the snake was found in Jharkhand.

In the Indian social media space, the video went viral with claims that the huge snake was discovered at FCI Sindri in Dhanbad, Jharkhand.

“Massive! It took a crane to move this #python weighing 100 kg and measuring 6.1 m long, in Dhanbad, Jharkhand,” wrote Parimal Nathwani, member of Rajya Sabha, sharing the clip on Twitter. He was among those who posted the video with similar claims.

However, according to The Mirror, the snake was found by workers clearing part of a Dominican rainforest. The video was shared on TikTok by @fakrulazwa and has been viewed over 79 million times on the platform. Another video shared on the same account shows people struggling to install the snake in a car.

NBT Bihar confirmed that the snake was not found in Jharkhand. Local administration in Dhanbad said no such snakes had been found in any part of the district and there had been no cases of lifting a snake with a JCB machine.

The breathtaking images of the great snake lifted by the crane therefore do not come from Jharkhand, as had been supposed previously, but from Dominica.

According to the New York Post, it is unclear what type of snake the viral video shows, but the boa constrictor is a species native to the Caribbean island. These snakes can grow up to 13 feet.
