The government of Assam has established an eight-member committee to prepare a framework for the implementation of all clauses of the 36-year-old Assam Accord, in particular the Term 6 report prepared by a central panel on the protection of cultural, social and linguistic heritage. the identity and heritage of indigenous peoples, officials said on Saturday.

The commissioner and secretary of the department for the implementation of the Assam Accord, GD Tripathi, issued a notification announcing the formation of the subcommittee, which will submit its report within the next three months.

“The Governor of Assam is pleased to form a subcommittee to review and prepare a framework for the implementation of all clauses of the Assam Accord in general, with particular emphasis on the clause 6 (high-level committee report) “, the notification reads.

The last panel will also focus on the implementation of clauses 7, 9 and 10 as well as the updating of the national register of citizens, the problems of flooding and erosion, the rehabilitation of the families of the martyrs and victims of the Assam unrest, he added.

In addition, the sub-committee will consider various problems faced by the state and the potential for overall economic development while preparing the report for the implementation of the historic pact.

The subcommittee, headed by Assam Accord Implementation Minister Atul Bora, has three ministers and five members of the Assam Students Union (AASU), according to the notification.

The other ministers on the panel are Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pijush Hazarika and Finance Minister Ajanta Neog, while the five AASU ministers include its Chairman Dipanka Kumar Nath, Secretary General Sankar Jyoti Baruah, Chief Advisor Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharya and Councilors Prakash Chandra Das and Uddip Jyoti.
