Ayushmann Khurrana turned 37 on Tuesday, September 14, and he chose to celebrate his birthday with his family and friends at home. Ayushmann’s wife, director Tahira Kashyap, took to Instagram Stories on Wednesday and revealed that she spent the evening eating cakes and playing 90s music.
In the first video of the series, Ayushmann was surrounded by his loved ones, a cake knife in his hand. As the group sang happy birthday to him, he left everyone divided into “stabbing” the cake, instead of cutting in the usual way, following it with a twist. An arrangement of large black balloons was placed behind him.
Sharing the video, Tahira said, “Cut, no, stab her cake.” She has tagged many friends and family, including Ayushmann’s close friend Rochak Kohli. The cutting of the cake was soon followed by the group who smeared cake all over their face.
In another clip, Tahira revealed that the group gathered in the room and sang songs. They were heard singing Yeh Dil Deewana from Shah Rukh Khan’s film Pardes. They played the song with a guitar and a harmonium in place. Tahira was also seen dancing in one of the videos. “I keep my energies after a full day of filming and why not it’s your Ayushmann birthday,” she captioned the video she danced in.

Tahira shared a photo of the couple’s days in college on Tuesday and wrote a birthday note. While Ayushmann was dressed in a black sherwani, Tahira wore a blue salwar-kameez in the return photo.
“We were 19 years old! I thought you were pretty cool, with your frames, your motorbike, your matching sweaters and mufflers, but what caught my heart was when you held the guitar and sang a song for me. You have always been passionate about art and what inspires me is that after all these years your innocence and enthusiasm for work and life remains the same. You have been my greatest confidante and cheerleader. I may not be a great romantic because stupidity (as you would say) is getting the better of me, but I want to tell you that life is amazing with you and that I continue to learn a lot from you! Happy birthday umm (heart emoji) Ps – we were such spectators no, “she captioned the post.
