Subodh Kumar Jaiswal, a former Maharashtra police chief, has been appointed head of the Central Bureau of Investigation for a two-year time period.

The authorities’s notification got here tonight after a sequence of conferences between Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chief Justice and opposition chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.

Mr. Jaiswal is an IPS officer from the 1985 group from the Maharashtra cadre. He at present works as head of the Central Industrial Security Forces.
